Atelier FAAR – standing for For Artists and Residents – is a platform for artistic exchange and community engagement, deeply rooted in the vibrant neighborhood of Borgerhout, Antwerp. Our activities are based in two buildings on Kistemaeckerstraat, where we offer affordable, sustainably built studios created from reclaimed and second-hand materials. Through this initiative, we support both emerging and established artists while providing space for amateur makers, fostering a community that thrives on collaboration and the ethos of 'artists for artists.'

At the core of FAAR’s mission is a commitment to facilitating meaningful dialogue between guest artists, local residents, and the wider community. We believe that artistic practice is a powerful tool for connection, reflection, and social engagement. By bridging the gap between art and the neighborhood, we aim to create a rich tapestry of shared experiences and ideas.

In addition to our studios, we host a dedicated exhibition space at Kistemaeckerstraat 62–64 for showcases and events. We also organize open studios in the individual workspaces and workshops in our shared areas. These initiatives are designed for both professional and amateur makers, inviting everyone to exchange ideas, experiences, and creative processes. The exhibition space serves as a testing ground for new work and experimentation, prioritizing artistic research and collaboration over commercial interests. This provides makers the freedom to explore and innovate without the pressures of the market.

We welcome national and international artists, cultural workers, amateur makers, and curious neighbors, building a diverse ecosystem of creativity and collaboration.
